Hugo Eligibility Post 2025

After the defeat of my amendment to the WSFS constitution at the Business Meeting in Seattle in 2025, I began on path to qualify as a Fan Artist in my own name. Here are my fannish projects completed in 2025, all eligible for nomination in the 2026 Hugo Awards. Each project is captioned with its name and completion date, and the images link to my fan art Instagram account post for the project. Next year I will have other fannish knits, as well as some cross stitch pieces finished.

Image is of a knitted tube in purple, blue and grey. The visible pattern is geometric.

The Cowl of SMOFdom. Owning this cowl gives you -10 on any saving throw against a fandom request. wearing the cowl will cause you to trip and fall right onto a Worldcon Bid Committee. Completed February 10, 2025.

A half circle shawl comprised of seven wedges on a background of greenery. Each wedge has a rainbow stripe pattern offset by one stripe from the next wedge.

Prisms Casting Rainbows in a Dark Time. Completed April 27, 2025.

To the left is my Cowl of SMOFdom. My husband named it after we got suckered into our involvement with the Brisbane bid.

Above is the rainbow shawl I began after the 2024 election. I named it with inspiration from the quote from the Fellowship of the Ring, where Frodo wishes that the events he is living through need not have happened in his time.

Purple Dewdrops on Alien Ferns. Completed September 18, 2025.

Aurora in Midnight and Fog

To the left is a wall hanging I made out of leftover scrap yarn and beads. The beads reminded me of dewdrops hanging from ferns on an alien planet.

Above is a hat I transformed from a mystery cowl knit a long, because I didn’t think it should be a cowl. The colors remind me of the Northern Lights.

A knit beret made of purple glittery yarn. The beret is made of 6 spiraling sections. There are glass beads along the edges of each section.

The Pleiades As Seen From Mt. Coot-Tha. Completed November 10, 2025.

A knit cowl in a purple, blue and orange color way. there are dashes of horizontal slipped yarn in a spiraling pattern.

Any Harbor in an Ætheric Storm. Completed November 10, 2025.

Above and to the left is the first of my Brisbane Berets series. The yarn is named Dark Pleiades, and the pattern is named after the Adler Planetarium in Chicago. So I named the project after the main Brisbane observatory. Above and to the right is a cowl I knit from the Glasgow in 2024 yarn designed by Third Vault Yarns, called Alba Æther. The pattern is called Gig Harbor. Both the color name and the pattern name contributed to the piece name.
